The Stylistic Meanings of "Jingying" and "Disegno"

“经营”在古代文论、书论和画论中与“布局”、“结体”和“构图”形成互指关系、其所指在涵义上与现代汉语中的“设计”类似。西方艺术史之父瓦萨里(GiorgioVasari)在1550年提出了“Artideldisegro”(设计的艺术)这么一个术语。两个术语均代表着各自文化的艺术形式要求和标准，同时也有着比较学的现实意义。

'Jingying(or Management)' has the same meaning as 'overall arrangement', 'construction' and 'composition' in the ancient literary, calligraphic and painting theories, just like the word 'design' in modern Chinese. Giorgio Vasari, the father of western art history, put forward the term of 'Arti del disegno' in 1550. The two terms represent the demands and criterion of their artistic forms in each culture, and also have practical significance in comparative studies.
