Using Weights to Modify the Shape of Revolution Solids

The geometric significance of weights in NURBS curves is introduced. The principle is illuminated that altering the shapes of NURBES curves via changing their weights while control points keep unchanged. According to the characteristic that the changes of weights won＇t bring big changes in shapes of curves, the way of modifying the shape of a product through changing weights is explored. By taking some widely used revolved solids industry products as examples, the influence of weights in practical product modeling is discussed.
