On the reasons for art activities in Chongqing during the Anti-Japanese War

抗战时期的重庆美术十分活跃,其战斗性、大众性、艺术性在中国现代美术史上占有十分重要的地位。究其原因,与重庆成为抗战文化中心、抗日战争为重庆美术提供了新内容、以周恩来为首的中共南方局的领导、有坚强的组织机构、受延安革命艺术的影响等有密切的关系。

during the Anti-Japanese War, there were a number of art activities in Chongqing and the fighting capacity, popularity and artistic quality of these activities play an important role in the history of Chinese arts. The reasons for that are that Chongqing was the center of Anti-Japanese War, that the War provided new content for Chongqing arts, the South Bureau of Chinese Communist Party led by Zhou Enlai directly or indirectly guided the art activities and that the activities were influenced by Yan＇an revolutionary arts.
