On Mao Zedong's Qiufeng Ci

秋是一年中寒暑代易的季节,也往往寓意着人生的盛极衰来,所以悲秋成为中国古典文学的重要传统。即使是政治家的秋诗,也带有浓重的悲凉色彩。可是毛泽东的两首秋风词,却表现出与过去的诗作截然不同的风貌。

Qiu is the transferring season from summer to winter, generally carrying the metaphor of ups to downs, so sorrowful Qiu is the important tradition of elassical Chinese literature. Even the poems of Qiu by politicians carry strong sorrow. But the two Qiufeng Ci by Mao Zedong, the politician and poet, take different style.
