国际关系研究基于历史理解。对国际关系理论思想而言,国际关系的历史论述、思考和解释有首要意义;倚重历史-哲理思考的经典方法应当是国际关系理论化的首要方法。国际关系史研究有其本身独特的重大价值,并非从属于世界或区域的政治史、政治经济史或社会发展史研究。无论是国际关系学还是国际关系史学,都需要有广阔的视野、总体理解能力和历史方向意识,舍此不会有真正的历史理解。

Historical understandings have been the foundation for research on international relations.With respect to theories and thoughts on international relations,the historical discussions,elaborations,and interpretations are of primary significance.The classical approach of historical-philosophical thinking should be the foremost choice of IR theory studies.Instead of being subordinated to studies of world or regional political history,political economic history,or social deve￣lopment history,the study of IR history has its own unique value.For both IR studies or for IR historical studies,a broad vision,a comprehensive understanding ability,and a sense of historical direction are all needed.
