科学发展观的提出,是我们党在总结改革开放经验的基础上,根据新世纪新阶段的任务,对社会主义现代化建设的指导思想的新发展。当代大学生是新世纪全面建设小康社会和现代化事业的宝贵人才,也是科学发展观战略实施的主要参与者和推动者,他们的思想道德素质如何,直接关系到科学发展观能否顺利实施,因此,只有大力加强大学生的思想道德教育,才能适应科学发展观的本质要求。

Based on the experience of the reforming and open policy as well as the new task in the new century, our Party has put forward the scientifie development concept as the guide to the construction of socialist modernization. As the main participants and promoters of the strategic implementation of scientific development concept, contemporary college students play an important role in constructing our well-off society and socialist modernization in the new century. Therefore, the quality of college students＇ mentality and morality is very critical for the smooth implementation of scientific development concept. As a result, only if we strengthen the education of college students＇ mentality and morality, can we meet the need of scientific development concept.
