Chin Sheng-tan gavea commentary on The Hsiang using his own rhetoric tactics. He regarded Ying-ying Cui the ideal of a perfect young lady, not only beautifui but also well-bred and well-educated. In Order to preserve such an image of Ying-ying throughout the play,Chin Sheng-tan took the trouble to tempering the text. Besides, he added to some comments in the text to emphasize his ideas.
