Foreign schooling in modern China, resulting from the gap between Sino and western cultures, is actually a unilateral absorbing of the advanced western culture by China. Starting from a difficult first step, it experienced many ups and downs in its development under its peculiar historical background in Modern China. Distinct features can be concluded from each phase of its development.
