The Implication of Names in Both Chinese and English

在英汉两种语言中都出现了许多表示人物的名词,这些人物名词除了表示它们原有的文化信息外,还有深刻的文化隐含。具有深刻文化隐含的英汉人名主要来源于古代神话传说、宗教文化、文学作品及日常生活等几个方面,在跨文化交际或英汉翻译过程中要注意这些具有特定文化内涵的人名。

There are many kinds of names in both Chinese and English that have special cultural implication based on their own culture. This paper tries to make an exploration of the implication of the names originating from mythology, religion, literature works and daily life and discusses how to translate the idioms with these names.
