Suhomlinski＇ s idea on reading and his construction of a “Scholarly Campus” are an important part of his educational theory. The connotation of his idea on reading includes： reading is the most fundamental task of a school, the most significant source for students＇ spiritual growth, the most radical way for teachers to grow up professionally, and the most essential activity of education. Scientificity, systematicness, lifelong nature and practicality are the major characteristics of his idea on reading. He was devoted to the construction of a “Scholarly Campus”, and formed the unique feature of his “Scholarly Campus”——the close combination of the construction of “Scholarly Campus” with his core educational idea, which became the effective way of realizing his core educational idea to cultivate talents with individuality developed in an all -round way and harmoniously.
