Tostudythediagnosticvalueoffibro-colonoscopeandtheusefulnessofhigh-frequen-cyelectrocoagulatioresectioninchildrenwithcolicpolyposis,weexamined609childrenaged2monthsto14yearsbyfibro-colonoscope,ofwhom442patientshadhematocheziaastheircardinalsymptomand244werediagnosedofcolicpolyposis.Snarehigh-frequencyelectrocoagulationpolypec-tomieswereperformedon151casesand18ofthemwerereexaminedbycolonoscopethereafter.Theresultsshowedthat97.0%(261/269)oftheirpolypswerelocatedontheleftsideofthecolonand15.2%(37/244)ofpatientshadmultiplepolyps.Juvenilepolypwasfoundtobethemostcommontypeofpolyps(80.7%,96/119),whileinflammatorypolyp,adenomatouspolyp,P-Jpolypandfa-milialpolyposisofcoloncomprisedthebalancesuccessively.Thefolow-upstudyshowedthat5casesofpolypsrelapsed,3wereofmisseddiagnosisduringpastexamination,andtheother10remainednormal.Theresultsindicatedthatfibro-colonoscopeshouldbeconsideredasthefirstchoiceofproce-duresforthediagnosisofcolicpolyposis.High-frequencyelectrocoagulationresectionwasasafeandeffectivemethodforitstreatment.Itwasalsoimportantthatpolypsspecimensshouldbesentforhistopathologicalreview.
