克里丝蒂娜·罗塞蒂作为拉斐尔前派诗人的一员,其诗歌表现出了与拉斐尔前派艺术相似的美学感知。如:形式上偏向于对唯美价值认同的革新,蕴涵着神秘主义的中世纪风格,对冰冷沉默的"病态美"和死亡主题的追求等等。这些唯美特征的源头是济慈。此外她本人近乎禁欲主义的宗教信仰与其唯美意识的斗争使其诗歌呈现一种可以称为"忧郁的唯美"的独特美。
As a member of the rebellious “Pre-Raphaelite” circle in the moralistic Victorian society, Christina Rossetti has undoubtedly assimilated the essence of the Pre-Raphaelite aesthetic value, which found genuine expression into her poetry. For example, the formal innovation that coincides with the Pre-Raphaelite aesthetic value, the deliberate Medievalism, and the searching for “extreme” forms of beauty like morbidity and death, etc. The source of these aesthetic features is Keats. At the same time, the very conflict of her almost “ascetic” religious emotion and the “evotlc” aesthetic consciousness produced a uniqueness of “melancholic aestheuclsm” which fully realized the tension of her poetry.
