The effects of natural disasters on the social development since the founding of the People＇s Republic of China

新中国成立50多年来，我国自然灾害不断，给社会发展带来很大的影响。作为发展中的大国，防灾救灾在今后相当长的时期内仍是党和国家的重要工作之一，尽可能减少灾害对社会发展带来的危害，在灾情高发期保持社会稳定，是执政的中国共产党始终要面对的一个重大而严峻的问题。

There have been various natural disasters in our country since the founding of the People＇ s Republic of China, which results in serious effects on the social development of China. It will be one of the most important tasks for the CPC and the Chinese goveniment to prevent the natural disasters and relieve the victims of disasters in a quite long period. Being the party in power, the CPC must lower the quantity of the victims of natural disasters as far as possible and stabilize the society during the frequent- occurring periods of natural disasters, which is an important and severe problem that the CPC has to be faced with all along.
