AbstractBy means of the universal unfolding of the theory of singularities, a numerical method for switching various solution branches at a bifurcation point is proposed in this paper. This method does not need the bifurcation point to be known accurately and any information of second order derivatives. The method mentioned in the paper applies to all the bifurcation points with codimension < 3 and it is sufficient to implement the method that the standard continuation software is only used.
