This paper first introduces the format of DICOM-based medical image file its data element structure.Then a DICOM-based medical image storage and access system developed with C＋＋ on windows platform is introduced. The class architecture and the arithmetics of read and write operation to medical images are described in the paper. The suggested approach is verified in a real Oral Digital Imaging System.
