Hu Jingzhi takes the lead in initiating the founding of the discipline of literature and art aesthetics by getting rid of the malpractice in the past： politicalizing the research of literature and art, while philosophizing aesthetics research, and makes an exact and full analysis of the very discipline＇ s fixed position and existence. As for his theory of literature and art aesthetics, his visual field is new and original; his structure is unique and his conformity of category is sound. His research approaches with distinctive characteristics are as follows： the unity between the adjustment to the demands of the times and the maintenance of academic standard ; the unity between the mergence of the Chinese and the Western traditions and the pursuit of self-innovation ; and the unity between paying great attention to theoretical research and integrating theory with practice closely.
