陶邑,在今山东省定陶县境内,是春秋时期中原地区的一大商业都会。越国大夫范蠡帮助勾践灭吴后,弃官至陶,采取多种方式经商致富,商业繁荣,经济兴旺,使陶邑成为“天下之中”。这一经济盛况带动了此区域整个经济的发展,历经汉唐而不衰。

Taoyi was a big business city in central plains during the Spring and Autumn Period . It lag in what is now called Dingtao county of Shandong Province . Fanli , an senior official in Yue , helped Goujian to defeat the Kingdom Wu . Then he resigned office and went to Dingtao and began to develop the trades in various ways . After that , Taoyi became the business center in China because of its prosperous trades and economy. At the same time, it brought about the whole economic development of Heze , which was still blooming even during Han and Tang Dynasty from then on .
