The barrister, i.e. the defending attorney in higher courts, is an established figure in the British judicial system. Barristers traditionally form groups, called ＂bars＂, which also provide them with the administrative framework that they need i.e. services and offices. With women becoming barristers the gentlemen＇s club-character of the bar is changing and taking on the character of a modern professional association and service provider.
