In order to promote international cooperation for reducing green house gas in the atmosphere, and preventing global warming, three flexible market mechanisms have been introduced into the 'Kyoto Protocol'. One of them is the clean development mechanism which will bring new opportunities to gain foreign capita! for the new energy industry and other industries that could reduce energy consumption. A new concept product called 'certified emission reductions' has been employed in the CDM. Chinese enterprises may trade their reduced exhaust emission measures with developed counties for extra funds and technologies, thereby realizing environmental protection and sustainable economic growth. China is the biggest potential country to bring CDM into effect in the world. It is estimated that about 2.5 billion tons of CO2 emission may be reduced in China between 2008 and 2012. The Chinese government and enterprises have been working hard to reach that goal.
