The composition, producing technology,properties and application of new water-based and alcohol-based chromite powder compound coatings for steel castings are introduced in this paper. The production cost of new chromite powder compound coatings is only half of zircon coatings. The surfaces of castings that are produced used new chromite powder compound coatings are smooth without sand adhering and gas-holes.
