On Anthony Giddens' Views on Modernity and the Corresponding Consequences

吉登斯认为现代性标识着与传统社会的断裂,现代性有四个基本的制度性维度:资本主义、工业主义、军事力量和监控体系;现代性所引致的全球化也有四个维度,而现代性与全球化交织的现代社会有着不确定的风险,激进卷入的四种社会运动让我们看到了未来光明的前景。吉登斯的理论为我们理解现代社会提供了借鉴。

Anthony Giddens holds the view that modernity symbolizes breaking away from traditioncal society. Modernity involves four systematic respects-capitalism, industrialism ,military power and supervision and control system. Globalization caused by modernity involves four respects. Modern society, the mixture of modernity and globalization, is very risky. Four radical movements indicate the bright future of the society. Anthony Giddens＇ theory serves as an effective weapon in understanding modern society.
