Water worship of the Chinese Nation

文化的起源与文明的兴衰无不与水有关。远古的先民在对自然即“天道”的膜拜、祈求、恐惧、屈从的漫长过程中缓慢地、辩证地认识了水,进而产生了水崇拜。水的“无为”特性被扩展为整个自然界和人类社会之“道”。

The origin of culture, the rise and fall of civilization are all related with water. The ancients, slowly and dialectically, came to understand water in a long time of worship, imploration, fear, submission to the nature, i.e. , “the heaven＇s way”, and thus gave rise to water worship. The“inaction”of water was extended to the “way” of the nature and human society.
