毛泽东科技思想的发展大致经过了长沙求学时期、延安时期与新中国成立后的五六十年代。新中国科技事业的发展,是在毛泽东密切关注和直接领导下进行的,他从国家整体发展高度,以长远的战略眼光来看待和思考科技发展问题。他提出了物质无限可分的科学论断,倡导用科学精神和科学态度来开展科技研究,他认为自然科学本身没有阶级性,是人们争取自由的武器,科技事业的发展要重视培养科技人才,要用世界先进科学技术武装我国的工业、农业和国防,把我国建设成为社会主义强国。毛泽东的科技思想,以民族性、战略性、辩证性为基本特点,在毛泽东思想体系中居于重要地位,是毛泽东思想体系中的重要组成部分,对当代中国科技事业的发展有重大的意义。

Mao Zedong＇ s scientific and technological thought was roughly developed in three periods, namely in his study in Changsha, his stay in Yon＇an and in the 1950s ＆ 1960s after the founding of the People＇s Republic of China. Under his direct leadership, Mao Zedong paid much attention to the development of scientific and technological cause. He, from a long- run strategic perspective, viewed and thought about the scientific and technological development for the ontire development of the nation. He put forward the scientific statement that matter can be infinitely divided and advocated to conduct the scientific and technological researches with scientific spirit and attitudes. He suggested that natural science is classless and is also the weapon of people＇s struggle for freedom. He further suggested that to develop the scientific and technological cause, mere attention should be attached to the training of scientific and technological talents. The industry, agricultural and national defense in China should be armed with world advanced technology, so as to build China into a strong socialist country. Mao Zedong＇ s scientific and technological thought is of the national, strategic and dialectical features. It is an important part of the system of Mao Zedong Thought and is of much significance for the scientific and technological cause in Modem China.
