The major factor affecting the formation of unfilled grains in hybrid rice include temperature,humidity,dry hot wind and cultural pactices,etc. The measures taken to decrease the percentage of unfilledgrains are:(1)Choice of suitable combinations adaptable to the local ecological conditions and tolerant tohigh and low temperatures;(2)Arrangment of seeding in accordance with heading stage to avoid tempera-ture damage;(3)Water control to adjust temperature and humidity when unfavourable climatic conditionsoccur;(4)Proper planting density.artificial polination,spraying of microelements and chemicals and appro-priatly delayed harvest.
