摘要
诗词中的地名是一种文化意象。采用音译 ,难以引起读者的联想 ;采用意译 ,又不能保留意象。服务于教学的英译的中国诗词应该按照钱钟书先生“诱”的策略 ,引诱大家去认识 ,去爱好中国古典诗词 ,在翻译时尽可能减少沟通中的障碍 ,配合英语文学的规范 ,满足其文化需求和预期。对于在诗词中容易引起读者疏离感的地名 ,尽可能的化解掉 ,把译出诗词的意象作为先期目标 ,同时增加注释满足英语读者通过诗词了解中国历史文化。
The geographic name in the classic Chinese poetry and Ci is a cultural image, Whether it refers to an exact place or a place in a general sense, it would trap the translator into a dilemma when putting it into English. When transliterated, it's unable to cause reader impulse; when free translated, the cultural image would be lost. While the target reader doesnt regard the translated poetry and Ci as literary work, but a culture product that could reveal the Chiuese characteristics, In order to fulfill the reader's expectation, translator would make the geographic name obscured.
