Voss, the hero by novel Vows, by Australian writer Patrick White,who is a man of hybrid of goodness and evilness, embodies weakness and conflict of humanity in his personality.Though the failure of Voss＇ s expedition resulted from hisconflict of humanity, yet it is a necessary part of his self- realization.At the back of Voss＇ s conflict humanity are the real reflction of lack of belief and White＇ s concerns of modern people confronting existential embarrassment.
