To the majority of EFL learners, writing in English is a process of word-to-word translation and they pay little attention to the differences between English and Chinese devices for cohesion and textual organization. In this essay, the writer carries out an intercultural study on the different devices of cohesion in English and in Chinese and analyzes their impact on EFL writings.
