China English in Intercultural Communication

中国特色英语(以下简称中色英语)是以规范英语为核心,用来表达中国特有事物与现象的一种英语变体。它表达的是中华文化中最富文化个性的内容。由于在西方语言中没有对应词语,在双语转换过程中往往形成对应空缺现象,成为跨文化交际的重要障碍。中色英语就是因对应空缺而产生的。本文探讨了汉、英两种语言由于文化的差异所产生的词汇空缺现象以及如何实现两种文化对接的翻译应对问题。

China English is to describe or express unique Chinese ideas and phenomena in Chinese culture based on the common core of the English language. In translating from Chinese into English. it is difficult to find English equivalence for the Chinese words and expressions that are characteristic of the source language culture. In many cases there is no equivalence at all in the target language and this forms the greatest obstacle in the intercultural communication between the two languages. This paper discusses several issues in and possible solutions to the absence of equivalence in C-E translation.
