词义确定是英汉翻译中的一个十分重要的问题。本文从一词多义、一词多性、词的连用搭配、词义的褒贬、词义的引申及习语这六个方面对这一问题进行了探讨。

The detenmina tion of the meaning of a word is a very important problem in English - Chinese translation. This article discusses the problem from the following six aspects： polysemy, homonymy, collocations, commendatory and derogatory meanings, extended meanings and idioms.
