In this paper the author discussed the Elevator Rule＇s request for rope brake,researched it＇s type ,work theory;talked about type examination method, and calculation method of rope brake＇s braking force for elevator with rope ratio 1：1 .In addition, other ascending car overspeed protection are analysed.
