地理信息系统是在计算机支持下采集、管理和研究空间数据,并且以地图、图形、三维飞行的形式再现三维自然界的边缘学科。地理信息系统应用十分广泛,在水利部门中的应用更具优势。A rcV iew G IS软件是美国E SR I开发的地理信息系统开发平台,具有简小、功能大、齐全的优点。本文评述了该软件的特点,指出该软件在水利部门具有非常好的应用前景。

Geographical information system （GIS） is a intersectant subject,with the help of computers,which collects and manages spacial data,and duplicates the natural world with maps, graphics and 3D fly. GIS is widely used,and the application of GIS in water conservancy has advantage. ArcView GIS is one of the GIS softwares developed in USA,which has the advantage of simplicity, powerfulness and versatility.In this paper,we had reviewed the characters of this software,and indicated there is a good future of it＇s application in water conservancy.
