In this article, the author attempts to illustrate that Gatsby, who mingles Dionysiac spirit with Apollonian spirit, is a mixture of sense and passion, by analyzing Fitzgerald＇s novel The Great Gatsby through Nietzsche＇s Tragic Theory, and to explain Gatsby＇s tragedy is evidently unavoidable in the tragic society, therefore, a new approach could be offered to help people appreciate Gatsby＇s tragedy.
