Abstract This article proposes a new finite element space for solving second order ellipticproblems on the domain with reentrant angles. The new space combines the convetional finite element bases with singular functions around the singular points.This space preserves the compatibility and has the optimal convergent rate as theProblems without singularity. On the other hand all the degrees of freedom in thenew space are defined oil the nodal points, so it is compatible completely with theconventional finite element software. Finally a numerical example is given to showits practical applications.
