Globalization and Competition in Higher Education

随着全球化进程的加快,高等教育的竞争也不可避免。本文作者认为:竞争能提高质量,学校应该有更大的自主权。

There used to three near-certainties about higher education.It was a national basis,mostly to local students,It was government-regulated. And competition and profit were almost unknown concepts.As most education was publicly funded,the state had a big say in shat was taught,to how many and for how long.Insofar as it esisted at all,competition was a gentlemanly business,few educators thought much about customers,fewer about profit.
