摘要 In 1985, the then 17-year-old Huang Guangyu and his elder brother left their hometown of Shantou in Guangdong Province with 4,000 yuan (US$492) to do trade business in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. One year later, the two brothers opened a 100-square meter electronic appliance store in Beijing. This is the origin of Gome Appliances, China's biggest electronics retailer, and the young man Huang Guangyu is now China's richest man, with assets of US $1.72 billion.
