Advocating Chinese Perspective in Studies of New Regionalism

中国的国际关系学者在研究新地区主义现象时,通常有两种问题视角,即如何用现有的国际关系理论来解释新地区主义现象和如何用新地区主义理论来推动现实中的地区一体化。但到目前还谈不上有什么系统的理论建构。为了推动新地区主义研究的深入,学术界现在最需要做的学术工作是:回归中国本位、确立中国视角;树立大战略观念,构建具有东亚特点的地区主义理论框架;深入开展地区共同体建设的研究,提出“中国倡议”;加强对地区治理问题的研究,探讨东亚地区治理与善治的新机制。

There are two common perspectives in studies of new regionalism among Chinese scholars of international relations. They are. using existing international relation theories to interpret the phenomenon of new regionalism, and using theories of new regionalism to promote regional unification. Till now no systematic theoretical frame has been established yet. In order to promote further studies of new regionalism, the author suggests that four tasks are to be undertaken. They are. resume China-oriented focus in the study and approach research topics from the Chinese perspective; establish a regionalist theoretical frame characteristics of East Asia in the light of macro strategiesl further the research on regional unification, put forward the ＂Chinese proposal＂; strengthen studies on regional governance with the intention of discovering new models of governance and good governance in East Asia.
