How close is the enthusiasm for the Internet to tulipmania？ Both of them are a vast speculation against assets whose worth, though potentially real, largely remains stubbornly hidden; the tulips were real just as the Internet is real, but in both cases, it is the relationship between the two which is distorted to the point of complete, preposterous artificiality; and in the enthusiasm for the Internet, neo- liberalism is once interrogated.
