A Picture of Town Conditions and Customs——about the Special Artistic Characters of Lao She’ Novels in Structure and Telling Stories

老舍先生的小说以机智和幽默形成了叙事方式和结构方式上的独特艺术特点,给读者描画出了一幅老北平的“市井风情图画”。首先是写作倾向上的不媚俗;其次在故事情节安排上离奇性与合理性并存,使情节和作品配合得相得益彰;第三,作品表现的家庭结构基本上是有代代传承的三代甚至四代人口同堂的纵式家庭结构;第四,用幽默的风格表现出了人生的悲哀;另外小说中鲜活的京味语言带来了区别于其他作家的浓郁的民族色彩。

The novels of Lao She have the special artistic characters in the aspects of the style of telling stories and the way of structure. These great works brought to us a colored picture of the features of old Beijing City. At first, Lao She wouldn＇ t fawn on the secular ways, or pander to low tastes. The second, the stories were fantastic and reasonable. The third, the families in the works usually had several generations. The fourth, the sorrowful life was expressed by humor in Lao She＇ s novels. Moreover, the written language in Lao She＇s novels was vivid and native, which was different from other authors in writing style.
