Refutation of the Wording and Purport of Shen Congwen about Xiangxi women

纵观沈从文的整个创作,他在女性书写方面呈现两种明确而清晰的主观叙事模式:对乡村女性的理想建构和对城市女性的讥讽评价。在太多主观意识的干预下,对城市女性的描写变成了他对城市进行文本复仇的工具,也是他构建湘西心灵之梦的一个反面衬托。这种主观改写使得他笔下的城市女性变得苍白无力。

Shen Congwen is a peculiar subjective writer. To some degree the descriptions about women in his novels are the embodiment of his thoughts and hopes, and his writings are the perfect explanations to the Xiangxi （the west of Hunan province） world. Selecting the representative rural women in Shen＇s novels as the examples,this thesis elaborates from the textual analysis perspective that it is because of his subjective writing that brought about the conflict between the theme, the characters and the text.
