郑板桥书法与扬州徽商

Zheng Banqiao's Calligraphy and Anhui Merchants in Yangzhou

郑板桥是清代中叶著名的书画家,显赫一时的扬州八怪之一。郑板桥在扬州与徽商的交往十分频繁,而徽商由于财大气粗,又喜好附庸儒雅,经常为书画家们提供文酒诗会,不惜重金购买他们的字画。书画家们为了迎合徽商们的喜好,往往在书画创作中追求新、奇、异、怪,郑板桥也不例外。

Zheng Banqiao was a famous calligrapher and painter in the middle of Qing Dynasty, one tithe Eight Specially - Talented Geniuses in Yangzhou. Zheng Banqiao had a lot of contacts with Anhui Merchants in Yangzhou. Since Anhui Merchants were wealthy and enjoyed flattering intellectuals, they often offered parties for those calligraphers and painters and spent big money buying their works. To please Anhui merchants, the calligraphers and painters created new, special different, queer styles in their works. Zheng Banqiao was not exceptional.
