《杨嗣昌集》的整理底本为传世的旧钞本《杨文弱先生集》,它形成于清康熙中后期,凝聚了杨家祖孙三代的心血。其书最终没能刊刻,先前是家道中落,资金匮乏;后来文网渐密,政治形势已经不允许。

The sorted-out master copy of Collected Works of Yang Sichang is the hereditary old copy of Collected Works of Mr. Yang Wenruo, which was written in Kangxi＇s middle and last reigning years in Qing Dynasty and was the fruit of the three generations of the Yang＇s. The book was not block-printed because in the early years family resources were strained to the limit and in the later years there were rigid verbal struggles and grim political situations.
