摘要
福克纳在他的作品中塑造了许多白痴、弱智这类特殊的人物形象,如班吉.康普生、艾克.斯诺普斯等,他们都是极度边缘化的人物。这些形象本身并不具有实在的意义,但他们的文学功能是多方面的,对刻画人物形象、深化作品主题、表现作者的思想观念具有非常重要的作用。
This paper analyzes idiots in Faulker＇s novels, considering his characterization of idiots to be unique in world literary history. The idiots themselves are not of realistic significance, but they have various literary functions of characterization, deepening the themes and the expression of the author＇s ideas.
