Zheng Zhenduo＇s writing of A History of Chinese Literature in Illustrated Edition was in essence influenced by traditional Chinese style of historical works and the western research ideology on historical study. Based on a literature-centered standard in terms of the technique of narration and artistic yardstick, his study on literary history was an independently narrative study on the development of literature with a trace of the historical style.
