Although British writer Oscar Wilde arouses a hot controversy in the 19th century, a high appraisal is unanimously given to his early fairy tales. In his famous fairy tale The Nightingale and The Rose, the deep theme, perfect images, poetic languages and dramatized plots have clearly mirrored its literary significance; its aesthetic concept, perfect spiritual ideas and elegant prose style have fully reflected its extraordinary aesthetic value; and his profound thought on life and death has amply proved its philosophical importance. So only from these three viewpoints of literature, aesthetics and philosophy can we fully understand Oscar Wilde and his works.
