礼器是西周统治者在举行礼典时的礼仪器具,是礼制的物质形象载体和文化象征。礼乐制度的历史变革外在体现为礼器的变化。礼器体制的沿革蕴含着丰富的礼制内涵。从西周到春秋战国,是礼乐体制从建立成熟到衰退崩溃的整个历史时段。“器以藏礼”,“礼”内涵的变化即礼器的变化。

The sacrificial vessel is some vessels used by governor of the west Zhou Dynasty when celebrated ceremony, is a carrier of matter shape and cultural symbol of the norm of etiquette. The historical evolution of rites and music is showed the changes of the sacrificial vessel exteriorly, which contains abundant connotation of the norm of etiquette. From the west Zhou Dynasty to the Spring and Autumn and the Warring States Period, this time is the whole historical phase from founding, maturity to falling off, collapsing of rites and music system. The changes of connotation of ceremony were namely the changes of the sacrificial vessel.
