A New Mode on the Interpretation of Social History——On E·P· Thompson's Reinterpretation on Historical Materialism

E.P.汤普森从反对“经济决定论”出发,在坚持历史唯物主义基本原理———社会存在决定社会意识———的前提下,对马克思历史唯物主义进行重新解读,形成了人类社会历史发展过程的社会和文化分析模式,这是他在史学研究实践中试图从总体上把握社会历史发展过程所做的有益探索,不能简单地把它理解成“文化唯物主义”。

With objections to economic determinism, E·P·Thompson reinterpreted Marx＇s historical materialism, and formed his social as well as cultural mode on analyzing the processes of human social history. Meanwhile, he insisted on the basic principle of historical materialism-social being determines social consciousness. This mode, which is by no means cultural materialism, is a salutary exploration in his attempt for the general mastery of the processes of social history in the research and practice in historiography.
