由于世界上各民族在文化风俗、地理位置、历史传统、宗教信仰、民族心理、思维习惯、意识形态等方面所存在的差异,同一颜色词语有时表现出明显的语义差异,刻上深深的民族文化烙印,甚至构成了人们对经过引申、转义之后颜色的崇尚或禁忌。本文旨在通过探讨不同文化之间颜色象征意义的差异,指出这种差异是在各民族文化历史背景的审美心理差异基础上发展衍生的,是在社会发展和历史沉淀中约定俗成的,是一种文化现象。对这种文化现象的解析有助于不同文化间的相互交流的发展,顺利地进行跨文化交际。

Substantial differences exist in English and Chinese in terms of cultural meaning of the color words due to the different cultural and historical background, etc. Some of the cultural and symbolic meanings even become the diversified favors and/or dislikes for different people. Hence, it sometimes hinders the efficient and effective cross-cultural communication. The writer aims to study the cause contributing to the difference and attempts to strengthen the awareness of this cultural and historical phenomenon and hence achieve successful cross-cultural exchange.
