On the Rational and Customary Principles of Selection of Foreignizing Translation Over Domesticating Translation

本文拟对归化与异化翻译策略选择的具体标准进行探索。一个是理性原则,一个是习性原则。理性原则主张以目的语的规范为依据;习性原则主张在语言层面上以目的语语用理论为依据,在文化层面上则以原语习俗为依据。这是既科学又便于遵循的原则。

The present paper endeavors to explore the specific principles in the selection of foreignizing translation over domesticating translation. One is rational and the other is customary. Rational principle insists that the selection of either as a translation strategy should take into careful consideration the norm of the target language, while customary principle deals with the idiomatic usage of the target language as well as the cultural factors in the source language. The paper also indicates that these two principles are not only scientific but also easy to follow in the selection of translation strategies.
