China is the earliest country that planted tea and also the original place for tea culture. From the tale of Shen Nong(the first man who discovered tea), through the Western Han, Three Kingdoms, the Jin Dynasty and the Northern and Southern Dynasties, during the Tang Dynasty, the custom of drinking tea boomed. From then on, this custom was passed down from one generation to another and developed into tea art. The tea culture, rooted in China's Tang Dynasty, was brought into Japan by Japanese envoys during the Nara and Heian Period and later developed into Sado cuhure(tea ceremony) featuring Japanese characteristics. From the differences between China and Japan's tea cultures, we can infer their arts, aesthetic sense and national characteristics are also different.
