第二次世界大战结束到20世纪末,欧洲共经历了四次移民大潮,使欧洲越来越成为事实上的移民大陆。大量的移民、特别是非法移民并没有融入欧洲主流社会,而成为边缘性的少数民族群体,因此,形成了一系列的移民社会问题和移民政治问题。欧洲极右翼政党及时抓住了选民关心的移民问题,高举反移民和民族主义、种族主义的大旗,赢得了社会中下层民众的广泛支持,从而在西欧国家的政坛上异军突起。

The period from the end of world War II until the end of the 20th century witnessed four waves of immigration in Europle,Which turned Europe into a de facto continent of immigrants. However, a large number of immigrants, especiadly those who immigrated to Europe illegally, werenot mainstreamed, and they became marginal minority groups instead,thus causing a series of immigrant problems. The arch-rightist political parties in Europe taking timely advantage of the immigrant issues the electorate were most concerned about. Won the wide support of people from middle and lower middle strata and rose up on the politicd arena in Europe due to their anti-immigration, nationalist and racist attitudes.
